RGSmobile, Artificial Intelligence Platform for the Tele-Rehabilitation of COVID-19 Survivors

The general objective of this project is to develop the RGSmobile ecosystem to deliver high-quality, low-cost rehabilitation to the homes of C19 and other pathology patients and enable therapists to treat and monitor more patients remotely. In this way, Eodyne contributes to the COVID-19 response, optimizes healthcare systems, maximizes patients' long-term clinical outcomes, and creates stronger, better-prepared healthcare systems and societies for future health emergencies. RGS-Mobile is a Research and Development project by CDTI, with project number EXP 00138251 | IDI-20220129.

RGS-ICU, Rehabilitation Gaming System for Intensive Care Units

The RGS-ICU is a digital tool for early motor and cognitive rehabilitation of critical patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The goal of the RGS-ICU solution is to accelerate the recovery of critically ill patients, reduce the number of days in ICU, minimize post-discharge sequelae, improve quality of life, increase the likelihood of returning to work, and lower the high per-patient ICU costs for the hospital.

The RGS-ICU project has consisted of four main phases:

  • Firstly, the necessary hardware components were selected and integrated, and the mobile module of the solution was industrially designed.
  • Secondly, rehabilitation software was developed based on the requirements provided by the neuropsychology team from the external collaborator, the Hospital Universitari Parc Taulí. For this, a series of software development and testing iterations were conducted in the ICU simulation room at Parc Taulí Hospital.
  • Thirdly, a technical verification of the solution was performed, and its clinical use was validated in a real ICU context with 15 critical patients. Results obtained during the evaluation by the Parc Taulí Hospital team demonstrate that the solution is clinically viable, recommended, and well-received by ICU patients. The detailed evaluation report is attached to this document.
  • Finally, as part of the quality development process, the results of the technical verification were used to create the RGS-ICU solution's technical sheet, which will be used for CE certification of the product as a medical device under the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) 2017/745.
